Study Abroad Staff
Susan is the Director of Study Abroad and Exchanges at Montana State University. In this position she works with both incoming/outgoing exchange and faculty-led study abroad students, facilitates orientations, credit transfer, and health and safety issues related to study abroad. She has worked in the field of International Education since 2002, when she served as a JET participant in Tsushima, Japan. Prior to joining the Office of International Programs at Montana State University she worked at Wittenberg University. Originally from Ohio, she earned her bachelor of arts degree in East Asia Studies from Wittenberg University. A true believer in the study abroad transformation, she spent two years studying abroad in Japan as an undergraduate student, and speaks conversational Japanese. Susan holds a Masters in Adult and Higher Education from Montana State University. When not in the office she can be found exploring the mountains of Montana. She loves spending time outdoors with her two sons.
Krysta is the Faculty-Led Program Coordinator at Montana State University, where she collaborates with faculty to facilitate short-term study abroad programs. An alumnus of MSU, Krysta holds a B.A. in Modern Languages & Literatures with a major in Spanish K-12 Teaching and a minor in Global Studies. During her undergraduate career, Krysta studied abroad in Spain for two semesters at Universitat de Barcelona and Universidad de Salamanca. Following graduation, she became TESOL certified and taught K-8 English in Chile at Colegio San Sebastián de Los Andes. Based on her own experiences, Krysta became an advocate for the personal, professional, and academic transformation that occurs through experiential learning abroad. In 2014, she received an M.A. in International Education from SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, VT where she pursued putting her passion into practice. A North Dakota native and long-time southwest Montana dweller, Krysta most recently returns to Bozeman from Pace University in New York City and is excited to be back in wide open spaces.
As the Study Abroad Coordinator, Colin works with outbound MSU students in general study abroad advising, preparation, and assists with campus outreach. Colin earned his B.A. in Philosophy, Political Science, and Spanish from Washington State University and a minor in Ethics. In addition to studying abroad twice during his undergraduate education, Colin has worked as a student ambassador and most recently volunteered in the study abroad office at Gonzaga University. Colin speaks Spanish which he learned through his studying abroad in Santiago, Chile and Cadiz, Spain. Having experienced the positive transformative process that results from studying abroad as a young adult, he is driven to help students have successful experiences around the globe. Colin, originally from Spokane, WA, recently moved to Bozeman and is enjoying having a sister in Montana. Colin enjoys the outdoors of Big Sky Country by skiing, rock-climbing, and hiking.
As the Study Abroad Coordinator at Montana State University, Claire advises and supports incoming and outgoing study abroad students. While earning her B.A. in communication studies from Loyola University Chicago, Claire participated in study abroad programs in Greece and South Africa; both of which strengthened her appreciation for experiential global learning. Claire holds an M.A. in Global Youth Development from the University of Montana where she focused her studies in international education and leadership. As part of her M.A. degree, Claire worked for an academic year in the Office of International Programs at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. Outside of work, Claire enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, camping, and planning for future travel adventures.
