RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

OF

THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Adopted 4 April 2019

Whereas, The Transportation Demand Management Fee has been considered by the Associated Students of Montana State University (ASMSU) Senate to fund different transport initiative around campus including, but not limited to, a campus circulator bus; and,

Whereas, The ASMSU Senate voted to send the Transportation Demand Management Fee to the Board of Regents following a student referendum vote at the Spring 2019 general election; and,

Whereas, It has now been recognized that piloting the campus circulator bus for another year would be critical to ensure transport demand is met and this fee increase has the most affective impact on students possible; and,

Whereas, Both current and future students will potentially contribute to the Transportation Demand Management Fee and should have input on the assessment of the fee; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the ASMSU Senate supports postponing Board of Regents consideration and student referendum vote on the Transportation Demand Management Fee to the Spring of 2020 pending a memorandum of understanding with the Board of Regents; and,

Resolved, That in academic year 2019-2020 a special committee, to be comprised of a chair appointed by the ASMSU President, three sitting Senators and two at-large students, shall be formed to evaluate the effectiveness and continued need of a Transportation Demand Management Fee and shall report to the ASMSU Senate; and,

Resolved, That in academic year 2019-2020, the seated ASMSU Senate shall vote whether to continue funding the pilot and vote on the issue of adding the Transportation Demand Management Fee to the Spring 2020 general election ballot.
