RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

OF

THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Adopted 7 March 2019

Whereas,The Office of Administration and Finance presented a list of academic, non-academic, and mandatory fee increases at the Senate meeting on February 28th, 2019; and,

Whereas,The mandatory fee increases represent adjustments for inflation, the rising cost of healthcare, addition of the transportation demand management fee, and increased software services like Adobe Creative Cloud; and,

Whereas,The Room and Board fee increase of 2.145% for fiscal years 2020 and 2021 is to cover wages, benefits, supplies, utilities, and renovations stem from a growing on-campus student population; and,

Whereas,The academic fee increases reflect the funds necessary for the continual function of their associated courses; and,

Whereas,The non-academic fees are presented to the Vice Presidents after having solicited student feedback where possible and preliminary requests for mandatory fees are reviewed by the Provost, Vice President of Administration and Finance, and Vice President of Student Success prior to submission to the President; and,

Whereas,The academic fees were prepared in each department and have been approved by the Deans and the Senior Vice Provost; and,

Whereas,The Associated Students of Montana State University value the essential services that fees provide for student academic and co-curricular success; now, therefore, be it

Resolved,That the Associated Students of Montana State University support and endorse the fee increases as presented to the ASMSU Senate by Terry Leist, Vice President of Administration and Finance, on February 28th, 2019.
