RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE

OF

THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF MONTANA STATE UNIVERSITY

Adopted 6 December 2018

Whereas, Legislative decisions can have a large impact on student life; and,

Whereas, House Bill 2 and the Governor’s Budget control funding for the higher education system; and,

Whereas, Romney Hall has needed renovation for several years and would provide needed classroom space and academic support for students; and,

Whereas, Most students live in private rental properties around Montana State University (MSU); and,

Whereas, The Associated Students of Montana State University (ASMSU) has continually advocated for students’ ability to easily access voting; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, The legislative priorities for the ASMSU in the 2019 Montana Legislature will be as follows:

  1. Advocating for funding for the higher education system as outlined in the Governor’s Budget proposal;
  2. Advocating for the funding of infrastructure projects throughout the MUS with an emphasis on the renovation of Romney Hall;
  3. Advocating for the Pay Plan to support staff and faculty;
  4. Advocating for tenant rights;
  5. Advocating for student voting rights.
